Beer: Three Floyd's Dreadnaught DIPA

This was my final beer of the day and I saved the best for last. As I have stated before I am a huge hop head, and I will drink just about any IPA or DIPA I can get my hands on. I have had Dreadnaught many times and it is my favorite beer in the style and maybe my favorite beer overall.
It comes served in a bowtie and pours a golden orange/amber hue. It has a medium dark off white head and left sheets of lacing from the top to the bottom of the glass when I was done with it.
The floral bouquet on this beer is just about the best I have ever smelled before. Heavy pine and grapefruit scent with slight scents of orange citrus and more hop resins. The first taste is all hops. This is so well balanced because the hops are not overpowering or overly bitter but fresh and provide a unique flavor. The malt is a perfect balance to go along with the heavy hop bitterness. Sweet caramel notes also come into play as the beer warms. The mouthfeel is very heavy and coats your entire mouth and throat on the way down. The alcohol is only barely noticeable with as high of an ABV as this has. The drinkability is very high for me. It's bitter, but not so much that I don't want to keep on drinking this. This is my idea of just about a perfect a beer as you can make. This beer is fantastic and I will keep coming back to this again and again.

Don't tell me....someone else you were with also got a pint of the Romulus! If that's true, then you had all four beers that we ordered. I left it out of my review because it was getting a little long, but we ordered a second round at 3Fs. My wife got the Dreadnaught (cause she wasn't driving!) and I got the Romulus. I definitely agree with you about the Dreadnaught. If it weren't so damn expensive -- $11 for a 22oz is about the best I've ever seen -- it would be a regular in my fridge.
The Romulus wasn't nearly as impressive. I ordered it while my wife was still finishing the Alpha Khan so we got to compare. The Romulus was less hoppy and also had a slightly "off" aftertaste.
You probably saw this on the menu, but apparently the name comes from a pair of beers they brewed -- Romulus and Remus -- that differed only in the type of hops used. Too bad the Remus is gone....would have been interesting to taste them side-by-side.
This is getting a little strange. This was the last thing that I ordered. My father-in-law had a drunk monk and it was really tasty, but I won't review it because I only had a few sips off it.
I really wanted to try the Romulus and Remus, but I just got ahead of myself and wanted to try those other things. I also wanted to try the Replic-ale, but didn't try that as well. I guess now another road trip is in order.
