Greenwood's newest beer bar is set to open on Monday, May 5th at 11:00 am. I tried to get in contact with someone from the bar and try and find out what beers they will be carrying, but I wasn't lucky to get that info, but I did find out that they will have 16 beers on tap and another 110 in bottles. I can't wait to give it a try next week. I've got high hopes they will be a great beer bar/restaurant.
Their website is currently under construction.
The resturant/bar is located on Emerson and County Line Rd in the most recent strip mall behind Chase Bank.

Cool news. Hopefully their bottled beer selection will be reasonably priced and they can put some pressure on Shallos to reduce the price of their bottles!
I agree. With 110 bottles I surly would hope there will be some good stuff there, but I am also worried about turn over there as well.
Woah. I thought this was a brew-their-own sort of place, so the news of 110 bottles is very welcome.
KOTBR will have to schedule that in pronto.
With a name like "brewhouse" in the name I thought the same thing. I am excited to give it a try and hopefully they have a great barman and will have a great selection.
Cool, I forgot all about this place opening up. It's on the wrong side of town for me, but I would still like to at least check it out. Looking forward to hearing how it is.
MMMMMMM. Oaken Barrel.
I will still continue to be a patron at Oaken Barrel, but it is nice to have the option.
Having been there 3 times now, I've found the beer selection to be good, but the food is seriously lacking. Over cooked, under seasoned and over priced. Not to mention the menu is a complete mess!
I still haven't been there yet, can you elaborate on what is a "good" beer menu? I hope to make it there this week.
It took an hour to get a seat even though there were at least for open tables that we could see. Then it took another hour to get food which was not good at all. Then got an overpriced bill for something that equates to Mcdonald's, but with beer(only good thing about the place). Maybe it will be better once they get it all put together. So I still say, "MMMMMMMM, Oaken Barrel".
Just went tonight. I was impressed with the beer selection, and the quality of the three food items I had was very very good. I had the M-80's, the bacon and cheese-wrapped chicken fingers and the BBQ pizza - all awesome. The portions of the entrees (I tried 5 of those that were with me) were HUGE. Bell's on tap, including Oberon, and Dogfish Head, Hopping Frog (bottles) were my selections tonight. Prices for drink and food comparable to Scotty's and any restaurant downtown. Manager Paul was super-cool and accommodating. I will go back.
Hopefully all of you that read this blog will know the following. Fireside recently raised thier prices and changed the menu. Some changes were good some bad. Good changes were easier to read more selection, bad changes were they raised the prices and as of 7/11/2009 started charging the bar staff and servers a 2% credit card fee that they have to pay at the end of the shift. If you go there they have 132 beers mostly around 5.00 average. but take cash. theres no point in someone working and paying taxes then to just get taxed again by the employer. We love and know most of the people there just think thats out of line...
